Following an extended OE in England and Ireland, Courtney returned to New Zealand to study at Victoria University where she graduated with a BSc in Psychology in 2007 and an LLB in 2008. Courtney was admitted to the bar in May 2008.

After starting her career at a general practice law firm, Courtney joined Cooper Legal in June 2009, where she is involved with both the psychiatric hospital and Department of Social Welfare groups of Cooper Legal's historic abuse claimants. Courtney is a listed legal aid secondary provider.

When not working, Courtney enjoys going to the theatre, curling up with a good book and exploring Wellington's weekend markets.
