Sam was admitted to the bar in September 2005 and had a number of short-term positions as a legal secretary before starting at Cooper Legal in February 2006. Since then, Sam has worked with both the psychiatric hospital and Department of Social Welfare groups of Cooper Legal's historic abuse claimants. In late 2008, Sam became heavily involved with historic abuse claims against a number of church organisations. In mid 2010, Sam was made an Associate of the firm.
Sam has appeared in the High Court and has assisted with submissions for the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. He has a particular interest in international human rights law/public law and has drafted submissions to the United Nations Committee against Torture and Human Rights Committee, submissions to select committees and press releases. Sam is a listed legal aid provider and has significant experience making submissions to the Legal Aid Review Panel.
When not working, Sam enjoys acting and musical theatre, and is the chairperson of Energy Theatre Incorporated, an amateur theatre company. Sam enjoys movies, good music and good times with his friends and family.
